Meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month, September through June*, at the Elgin Holiday Inn, 454 Airport Road, Elgin, IL. Each monthly dinner meeting is only $17, and includes dinner and the program! Networking begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 6:15; some meetings include a short business session. To join one of our meetings, please contact Barb Hochgesang (847-969-4992 or bhochgesang@argosy.edu) by noon the Monday prior to the meeting date.

 

November 1, 2008.  20th Annual Fashion Show - "Elect to be Fashionable". Please join us for this wonderful annual event at Villa Olivia Country Club, Bartlett, Illinois. At a cost of only $25 for adults and $12 for children, it's a lovely afternoon with great fashions and even better company. We hope to see you there!

 

November 19, 2008 "Let's Really Play Post Office!" presented by Beverly Magee and Leo Reese, United States Postal Service. Do I capitalize all the letters on an envelope? What is new and happening with the Post Office Internet? How do the new envelope regulations (dimensions, etc.) affect me? Beverly Magee will educate everyone on proper mailing procedures. Leo Reese will present what's new as well as what is needed to capture volume discounts and manifest mailing. Dinner entrée: Vegetable Lasagne.

February 18, 2009 "The Heart of the Matter" presented by Peggy Maurer, RN, Delnor Community Hospital. Do you know what your cholesterol level is? Do you know what good or bad cholesterol is? Do you know the signs of a heart attack? Join Peggy Maurer, RN as she presents ways to maintain a healthy heart and to know the signs of a heart attack. Dinner entrée: London Broil.

 

March 18, 2009 "Power of the Internet" presented by Marie Herman, CWD, ATM-B, member of the Two Rivers Chapter IAAP, Naperville. Are you tired of searching on the Internet and not finding what you need and wasting time? Did you know that there are websites that can assist you with finding zip codes, tracking packages and teaching you software? Join us a Marie Herman presents what the Internet can do for you and how to search wisely using the internet. Dinner entrée: Club Salad.

 

April 15, 2009 "Excellence in Action: The Confidence Key" presented by Felicity J. Slattery, M.A., M.Ad.Ed, Communication Consultant, Speaker and Coach. Are you unsure of yourself in business or personal relationships? Do you lack the courage (or confidence) to say NO when necessary? What are the steps to developing confidence? Join us as Felicity Slattery shows us the 3 simple steps to developing confidence now and the key element which is fundamental to all our success, whether personal or professional. May 20, 2009 "What's New at Avery?" presented by Mark Ehrenberg, Avery Representative. Come learn about the new items at Avery to help us simplify our work environment, organize our workspace and reduce our environmental exposure. Mark will show us the latest and greatest from Avery to handle all these areas. Dinner entrée: Fiesta Time (taco buffet).

 

June 17, 2009 "Who, Me, be a Role Model/Mentor?" presented by Ruth Stearns CPS, Elgin Chapter Member. Yes, you can be a role model/mentor. It's easy and fun. Learn what it takes to be someone who influences others, teaches others about IAAP's history and organization, about Robert's Rules, or just learns about another member. Let Ruth Stearns show you what mentoring really means, how you can become a mentor, and what you can learn about IAAP during a mentoring program. Dinner entrée: All American Buffet.
